Sex and the City 2

Prior to watching the movie, I read a lot of negative reviews. It kind of threw me off watching it but as I am a vivid fan of Sex and the City series I tried to not let it bother me. It did not work!!! Damn it. It was all due to my curiosity that I had to research reviews as well as being such a highly anticipated movie! Overall, I am satisfied with it but it definitely lacked a certain 'something'. I cannot remember every scene exactly but a few stood out. I found the introduction scene quite confusing. Why did they have to show how they met several decades ago in New York City. They should have used that in the first movie because it was a bit odd having that in the second when we already knew the characters. Anyways, it was funny though looking at the women back in Studio 54 period. It almost broke me heart when Smith appeared on the screen again. I swear Samantha and Smith are just meant to be even though they will never get married. Carrie was especially annoying when she did not take Big's desires into consideration. It was so painful it watch that scene. We all know that Carrie likes to night life and all but Big is just the opposite. Did she not know?
I did not like how Charlotte and Miranda especially had such a small role in this second edition. I would have loved to see more of Brady and Steve. Charlotte was not that fun to watch this time around. I do not really know why but she lacked the Charlotte-ness in my opinion. She was so dramatic about everything and whining about unnecessary things. We all knew that Carrie and Aiden would end up kissing, it was no surprise. It was also nice to see him back despite his early departure in the series. The whole trip was amazing. It definitely gave me that sense of escape into the world of the rich and famous. The storyline in Abu Dhabi was hilarious. I read in some reviews that it insinuated racist implications and ignorance but in my opinion, this movie is for entertainment and it shows the cultural differences one might encounter when visiting another country.
The movie had a lot of great one-liners and it was funny overall. What I could have done without was the whole Carrie and Big drama! It was so long and unnecessary! It made the movie feel so long. All the guest appearances did a great job and was fun to see that too. However, I was surprised that Shrek 3 beat Sex and the City 2 in the box office!!! I would not recommend buying the DVD for those who are not fans but I certainly would buy it without a doubt! I actually cannot wait for the extra's. If I were to rate this movie, it would be 3 stars but you can consider me biased.
