Coming out for the holidays is the family friendly film Marley & Me based on the memoirs of John Grogan in his best selling book of the same name. This should be a wonderful film for children during the holidays. Keeping them entertained is the adventures of a neurotic Labrador dog growing up along with his family. Owen Wilson and Jennifer Aniston star in this feel good story about a young couple who get a dog as a gauge to see if they are ready to care for children. They quickly discover they are more than ready for the children but the dog will soon be another story. Marley, named for Bob Marley, grows into a large, rambunctious, and hard to handle canine who manages to get himself into more than his share of mischief and destruction.
Having read the book I can say this is the one film of the holiday season I am looking forward to seeing. The book was funny, sad, warm, and a real tear jerker at the end. The book hit a familiar note with every pet owner in America and I am sure the film's director David Frankel hopes the film has the same effect.
