Joaquin Phoenix's message

March 26th 2010 04:52
I was just surfing the internet and I came across this video of Joaquin Phoenix.
He delivers an explicit anti-animal cruelty message involving exotic animals such as snakes, alligators and crocodiles. The video is published in hope of savings these creatures from becoming high-end products. This really got me because I am a big animal lover and hate to see any animal suffering. There was one point that Joaquin made that really stood out. Most of these reptiles have low metabolism which means that after they have been cut to pieces or skinned, they are still alive and can feel every pain in their body. It is not only sickening to hear this but also so sad. Where are the human morals when it comes to this? I know it is a business but this is just surreal!!

I know some much-sought-after brands now use these skins to make their handbags but I am not going to criticise them. Although it is considered fashion but is fashion worth killing animals for? Not in my opinion. Like Joaquin says, these products can be made without using animal skins. It is sad to see that celebrities are indirectly endorsing this business by carrying handbags that are made out of animal skins. This has an transmission effect as people who are able to afford this will buy this product simply because celebrities are carrying it and it is a must-handbag. Never in my life will I buy any products that caused an animal to suffer for unecessary reasons. I hope that this message gets through every one and fight against this crime.
I did not want to use pictures because they are too horrendous and sad.

I am all for animals not to be made to suffer, but I have noticed far too many celebrity animal rights activists telling us that we shouldn't use animal products, in anyway, YET, they wear leather belts, shoes and wallets, handbags and car seats, and those that eat meat don't care that the chickens, pigs and cattle suffer greatly, in their short lives.

Hey Fog, thanks for commenting. I know what you are talking about. Every celebrity that signs on to PETA still continue to use animal products such as alligator handbags and snake's skin shoes. It is very sad to identify that yet they are spokesmodels for anti-animal cruelty. That is why Joaquin Phoenix is a great example, not because he is doing this but he is also a vegan. It is great to see celebrities like him opening up about this.
